Relaunching Our Sensory Training and Support for Schools

30 September 2025

Discover our updated 10 Steps course and brand-new Facilitator Certificate, designed to help school staff implement practical, evidence-based strategies for sensory inclusion.

At Sensory Inclusive Schools, our mission has always been simple: to help every student feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn. Over the past few years, we’ve seen more and more primary and secondary schools across the UK recognising the importance of sensory inclusion, and asking for training that is both practical and easy to fit into the school week.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the refresh of our core programmes, designed to give schools clear, achievable steps and the confidence to support every learner.

10 Steps to Creating a Sensory Inclusive School – Updated and Easier to Use

Our much-loved 10 Steps to Creating a Sensory Inclusive School course has been updated to better meet the needs of busy school staff.

Key improvements include:

  • Shorter, focused modules that you can complete in bite-sized chunks. Ideal to complete in twilight sessions or INSET days.

  • Evidence-based steps that work with the resources you already have

  • Continued access to term-time weekly drop-in sessions with an Advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner

  • Forum support with guaranteed responses to your questions

This refreshed structure makes it easier than ever to implement sensory inclusion strategies across your school, without feeling overwhelmed.

“I just completed the Sensory Inclusive Schools core training and it was very insightful and inspiring. Looking forward to implementing some new strategies to help support all the learners in my classroom!”

“I have learnt that some children need support with managing how they cope with processing sensory input and that sometimes we may need to help them [...] by offering modifications to the room or how we structure the day. This course has taught me how I can provide this within my classroom.”

Sensory Inclusion Facilitator for Education Certificate – Brand New

We’re also excited to launch our Sensory Inclusion Facilitator for Education Certificate, an opportunity for school staff and professionals working with schools to become recognised leaders in sensory inclusion.

By completing the course, you will:

  • Gain a clear understanding of sensory processing and its impact on learning

  • Recognise barriers in classrooms, routines, and tasks that may come from unsupported sensory differences, and learn how to adapt them.

  • Build confidence in having meaningful, sensory-informed conversations with colleagues, students, and families.

  • Be able to select a variety of universal sensory strategies to support students' individual sensory systems, and adapt environments and occupations (tasks).

  • Earn a formal certificate and join the National Register of Certified Sensory Inclusion Facilitators.

This course is ideal for staff who want to champion sensory inclusion and embed positive, lasting changes in their school community.

“This is such an important course for understanding children’s behaviour and often unmet needs.”

“This course so exceeded my expectations. Absolutely one of the best courses I have ever done.”

What This Means for Schools

Both programmes reflect what schools have told us they need: flexible, practical, and expert-led sensory training.

  • The updated 10 Steps course helps any school take immediate action to create inclusive classrooms.

  • The Facilitator Certificate equips staff to lead change and build in-house expertise, benefiting the whole school community.

Together, these courses provide a pathway for schools to start small, grow confidence, and embed sensory inclusion as part of everyday practice.

Continuing Our Journey Together

We’re proud of the journey so far, and grateful to every school that has worked with us through our earlier programmes. This relaunch builds on that strong foundation — keeping what works, while making it easier and more impactful for schools to take action.

We can’t wait to see how these refreshed programmes support schools across the UK in creating environments where every student can thrive.
